IVAR FROUNBERG composer/works Epitome (1999)
Da jeg komponerede
v¾rket ...to arrive where we started,
startede processen i S-toget mellem
Birker¿d og Aller¿d, hvor
jeg hastigt skitserede en
solo for bratch som en model
for v¾rket. Denne bratch-solo
stykke for solo-bratch.
det h¿res i her.
When I composed the piece: ...to arrive where we started the first scetches of a solo for viola were made in the metro between two suburbs of Copenhagen. This scetch was supposed to be a model for the whole piece. It was then used in two greater formal parts, but I allways had the feeling that it could become a solo-piece by itself. I was happy when Anette Slaattho asked if I had any pieces for solo-viola. The original solo grew into a bigger context as one huge gestical sweep from low to high. New matherial was deducted from existing matherial, and the solo ended as you hear on the recording.
